Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I care for my cutting board and/or serving tray?
To help maintain your special board, please do not place in the dishwasher or submerge in water. Also, do not place your board in the microwave oven. Do not use cooking oils such as (olive oil, vegetable oil, or sunflower oil, etc.) to condition your board because these oils will spoil and turn rancid promoting bacteria. We recommend washing your board after each use with gentle soap & water or a moist cloth, dry immediately afterwards. It is recommended to apply cutting board conditioner to your board at least once or twice per year. If you live in a very dry climate you should condition it at least 4-6 times per year. We use “Howard Butcher Block Conditioner” on all our personal boards, which can be found on Amazon or big box stores. For best long term care, use conditioner anytime your board starts to look dry. Remember, you can never over condition your board too much. If your Serving Tray was made with epoxy such as an epoxy river, do not slice on the epoxy with a knife at all. Your serving tray was designed to serve food and not to be used as a cutting board. Reminder, wood is a natural product. It has a tendency to move and breathe when subject to extreme humidity and temperatures or seasonal changes. This is the natural living cycle of wood. Again, it is important that you condition and maintain your board so you can enjoy it for many years to come.
  • Why do I install “clear” rubber feet in lieu of “black” rubber feet to the underside of my Charcuterie/Serving Trays?
In general, rubber feet tend to help keep the tray from slipping on your kitchen or table surface. More importantly, “Clear” rubber feet do not leave dark or black smudges on your kitchen or table surface, whereas ‘black rubber feet tend to leave dark smudges on surfaces.
